As our committee made plans to celebrate our 25th anniversary in October 2015, we decided on a “legacy” project, a natural playground for our preschoolers to enjoy. We had been saving carefully for many years and with a grant from the County of Oxford, we were able to pay the complete cost at completion. The Board of Woodstock Christian School was very supportive and granted us a portion of their land, with an agreement that the JK/SK groups could use it when the preschoolers are not.
Construction started in mid-September 2016. The children were eager to watch as the playground was installed. As of late October, it is now in use. We are thankful for the lovely fall weather that has enabled us to use it regularly.
Our new playground includes a riding path for tricycles, a sandbox, a discovery table, a climbing structure, a double slide, a xylophone, a garden box and two benches.
We are planning to have a grand opening for the public to come and see our playground in spring of 2017.
