May 2018 Newsletter

As we start the month of May, we realize how quickly the school year is coming to an end. We have enjoyed a few mornings in the playground as the weather gets warmer.   At this point, rubber boots and splash pants are recommended as the ground is damp and some of the children enjoy rolling down our small hill.

REMINDER – PARENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR APPLYING SUN SCREEN TO THEIR CHILDREN.

SUN HATS ARE ALSO A GOOD IDEA ON SUNNY DAYS.

BIRTHDAYS

Emily turns 4 on May 3!

Our co-op student, Jacqlyn has a birthday on May 11!

Charlotte turns 4 on May 24!

Caleb turns 4 on May 27!

We will be starting a unit on growing plants this month.   We will be touring the flower gardens in front of the school and trying to grow some plants from seed.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers in our preschool families!   If not for you, there would be no reason for the preschool to exist!
We hope your children make you feel special.

Victoria Day (May 21) Monday is a holiday for all, so the preschool will be closed that day.

FYI the last day of preschool will be June 22.

May will also be a busy month of planning for our 5th Annual Touch a Truck event on June 2!  All families should have received a yellow letter about volunteering/donating to the event.  If you know of any high school students looking to earn volunteer hours, they are most welcome also. Please be sure to sign up or make your donation by MAY 17!    Training meetings will take place May 22 @ 11:00 a.m.   & May 24 @ 7:00 p.m.  Please choose the time that suits you best.   They should be about 20 minutes long.   We want to make sure our volunteers are informed about their duties so things will go more smoothly on June 2.

June will be our month for trips.

Last month, I announced our fire station trip for the last week of May but this had to be rescheduled.   It is now set for June 4 and 5.   We will be travelling by school bus to the station and if the weather is good, we plan to go to Victoria Park afterwards for some playtime.   Many parent volunteers will be needed.   If your child does not attend on Monday or Tuesday, they are still welcome to join us for this trip.

On Friday, June 15 we will be meeting at Clovermead Adventure Farm near Aylmer.  We will not be taking a bus that day but encourage families to attend for as long as they wish.   All preschool students will have free admission to the park.   Parents and siblings will have to pay their own way.
